And suddenly, the world stopped and all of us refuges in our homes, the trips were canceled and the economy was paralyzed. We change the applause on the beach watching the sunset for the applause from our balconies to all those who are fighting to combat this virus.
Y de repente, el mundo se detuvo y todos nos refugiamos en nuestros hogares, los viajes se cancelaron y la economía se paralizó. Cambiamos los aplausos en la playa viendo la puesta de sol por los aplausos desde los balcones a todos aquellos que luchan para combatir este virus.
Then what? Then we realized that what we wanted most was what we had by our side every day, the hugs, the talks, the shared cafes, the sea, the mountains, those wonderful trails and those sunrises which now we are seeing through our TV or phone screens.
¿Y luego qué? Nos dimos cuenta que aquello que más queríamos era justo lo que teníamos a nuestro lado, los abrazos, las charlas, los cafés compartidos, la naturaleza, el mar, las montañas, esos maravillosos senderos y esos amaneceres que ahora vemos a través de pantallas de televisor o teléfono.
Tenerife is an island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean whose main economy is tourism, and now we are literally “zero tourism”. Of course there is concern, but we are all aware that health comes first, the important thing is to stay safe, to save time while finding the solution to a virus that came to alter our lives but also to strengthen us.
Tenerife es una isla en medio del Océano Atlántico cuya economía principal es el turismo, y ahora estamos -literalmente- en “turismo cero”. Por supuesto que existe preocupación pero todos somos conscientes de que la salud es lo primero y que lo importante es mantenerse a salvo, ganar tiempo y encontrar la solución a un virus que vino a alterar nuestras vidas pero también a fortalecernos.
It will be difficult times, it will be times to start again, but there is plenty of spirit and there is plenty of desire to do it. And if not, look how beautiful the message that Cabildo de Tenerife has launched, a message full of hope and illusion that invites you to dream, to think about the day after tomorrow, because after all and, as has always been said, whenever it rains the sun rises.
Serán tiempos difíciles, serán tiempos para comenzar de nuevo, pero sobra espíritu y muchas ganas de hacerlo. Y si nó, miren qué hermoso es el mensaje que ha lanzado el Cabildo de Tenerife, un mensaje lleno de esperanza e ilusión que invita a soñar, a pensar en el día después de mañana, porque después de todo y como siempre se ha dicho, siempre que llueve sale el sol.
Now it’s time to stay home, take care of each other and value everything we have, not to leave our dreams behind and fight to start with more desire. Remember it: You will come back. We will be back.
Ahora es el momento de quedarse en casa, cuidarnos los unos a los otros y valorar todo lo que tenemos, no dejar nuestros sueños atrás y luchar para comenzar con más ganas. Recuérdalo: Volverás, volveremos.
